3 Mindful Activities For More Fun and Peace in Your Daily Life

It is so important to create the time and space in our lives for simple joy and fun. In daily life, we find we have so many responsibilities and to-dos, yet we need time for fun and ease so that we can operate from a full cup, rather than an empty one. It doesn't take much to change what our lives look like by starting one day at a time, and making a choice to incorporate a bit more mindfulness and joy into our routines. When we change each day, bit by bit, these days add up to create a more beautiful month, year, and life. 
Read on as I share a few simple activities that can help you to find daily joy and peace while learning to become more mindful!
-Get a coloring book! There are so many fun varieties of coloring books you can choose from. Explore a subject or theme that brings you joy and instead of spending those 10 extra minutes on your phone in the evening, commit to a moment of mindful coloring. Enjoy the simplicity and give yourself permission to let go of your worries and focus only on what is before you. At the end, you’ll have a beautiful reminder of the joys of being present.
-Cook or bake something for yourself or a loved one. This activity is a great way to combine mindfulness and gratitude, and it yields a marvelous result! If you’re not confident or practiced in baking/ cooking, choose something simple and nourishing. Some great starter recipes are veggie stir frys and pasta dishes, as for baking try chocolate chip cookies or a simple banana bread! The point of this exercise is to ground your focus on your present experience and find peace through the preparation process. Feel grateful and practice mindful eating as you enjoy your homemade creation.
-Make sure to get some outside time at least once a day. If you work indoors, it may feel quite difficult to get outside during the work week. It’s important to find easy and sustainable ways to engage with and enjoy whatever nature is surrounding you. One of the easiest ways to do this is by taking a daily walk. If you have a furry friend, you may already enjoy this! As you walk, do your best to be mindful and present with each moment. Take time to observe the sights, smells, sounds and feelings around you. This practice can help to ground you and release stress, at the same time refreshing your energy and nourishing your body.
