Winter Blues, and What To Do When it Hits
Winter is coming, and I don’t know about you, but some days I feel like I need a little extra support in order to feel grounded and at peace. Having mood shifts during the winter months is normal, and in fact, there’s even a name for it: Seasonal Affective Disorder, or known for short as SAD- fitting right?
It may be a mission to overcome these feelings, but we can do so with care, patience, and compassion for ourselves. Seasonal shifts are simply a part of life that we cannot control, and therefore must learn to accept this. When we allow ourselves to accept the things we cannot change, we then become able to begin making personal changes in order to feel supported and loved during times of challenge.
As always, one of the best and quickest ways to begin shifting our mindset and changing our mood is with positive affirmations!
Read on as I share my favorite positive affirmations for Winter Blues and make sure you write down your favorites!
I am deserving of love, happiness, and comfort
I am resilient in the face of challenges
I am always valuable, even when I am not productive
I have come so far, and for this, I am grateful
I deserve everything good
I am always enough
I am content sitting in this discomfort with curiosity, as I am learning something new about myself, and I know these feelings will not last forever
Repeat these affirmations in the morning, afternoon, and before bed to find additional support as the seasons shift and the days grow longer.
Ask yourself, what feelings did these affirmations bring up? Have these words of truth inspired you to take any particular action in caring for yourself or doing deeper inner work? Perhaps you’d like to journal about your experience. Remember, we always have the choice to respond to life’s circumstances with love, compassion, and curiosity. Do your best to embrace these changes and bring joy into each and every day.
